Key points of winter ventilation management for modern caged chicken houses

1. First, do a good job of sealing and insulating the chicken house

Under any negative pressure ventilation situation, the success of using minimum ventilation volume in autumn and winter depends on the sealing and insulation performance of the chicken house. The better the sealing of the chicken house, the better the effective ventilation will be, and the safer the breeding will be. The wall and roof material of the chicken house plays a very important role in good insulation of the chicken house. The biggest risk in the breeding process is the phenomenon of air leakage. If there is an air leakage in the chicken house, it will not only easily form wind and affect the uniformity of the temperature of the chicken house, but also affect the uniformity of ventilation. Therefore, the door of the chicken house should be kept small. Window frames, water curtain fan manure outlets and other parts should be sealed and insulated. Generally, the chickens at the front and back ends of the chicken house have the lowest body temperature, almost becoming "sentinel chickens". They are the first to react when the temperature changes. This is mainly affected by the front door and rear fans and manure outlets, so the chickens are the last to react. A good chicken house door should be hung with a cotton curtain, and a windshield curtain should be added at the front end. The disabled fan at the rear end should be sealed with plastic cloth and cotton tape, and the manure outlet should be blocked immediately after the manure is discharged.

2. Properly regulate temperature and ventilation

1) temperature is the basis for broiler chicken breeding.

Especially within 3 weeks of age, ventilation must be based on the body temperature of the chickens, because chicks do not have the ability to self-regulate their body temperature and can only rely on heat supplied from the outside to ensure their own body temperature balance, so no wind speed and low wind speed must be adopted Ventilate and prevent cold wind from blowing chickens. Continuous low temperature will cause a decrease in disease resistance of chickens. Cold is a key cause of colds and respiratory diseases. Cold stimulation causes peripheral vasoconstriction, which reflexively causes dilation and congestion of blood vessels deep in the body and internal organs. Long-term passive stasis congestion is the pathogen. Infection creates favorable conditions, the respiratory mucosal barrier function is destroyed, ciliated epithelial activity stops, lysozyme secretion decreases, tissue protein decomposition intensifies, macromolecular colloidal proteins increase in the blood, and intraretinal activity weakens, resulting in weakened disease resistance of the body. Therefore, preventing cold stimulation and enhancing the body's ability to resist cold stimulation are the keys to preventing respiratory diseases. At the same time, cold stress can induce salmonella ascites and digestive tract diseases, cause malabsorption of egg yolk in chicks, affect the immune function of the chickens, reduce antibody production, inhibit humoral immunity, and lead to immune suppression.

2) although temperature is important, it should not be overly conservative and focus only on insulation and not on ventilation.

Poor ventilation will cause insufficient oxygen content in the chicken house and excessive accumulation of carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, ammonia, etc. At the same time, high temperature and humidity are the best environment for bacterial growth. When ventilation is insufficient, bacterial pathogens and dust in the chicken house cannot pass through. If the air flow is effectively discharged from the chicken house, it will settle in the chicken house for a long time. It is this environment that provides a breeding ground for bacteria and viruses to reproduce and even mutate, becoming the biggest threat to the health of the chickens. In addition, if the chicken house does not discharge manure in time, or the ventilation is poor, it will cause the ammonia in the chicken house to exceed the standard. Ammonia stimulation not only causes a variety of respiratory diseases in broilers, but also causes ascites in broilers and increases its incidence, seriously reducing the production performance of broilers. Inhalation of gaseous ammonia or contact of ammonia in dust with respiratory epithelial cells can cause cell damage. A high ammonia environment can cause the shedding of broiler tracheal epithelium and damage to tracheal cilia, resulting in a decrease in the physical resistance of the respiratory system.

3) in the cold seasons of autumn and winter, we must pay more attention to the ventilation of the chicken house to ensure sufficient oxygen content in the chicken house and effectively reduce the discharge of ammonia, dust, carbon dioxide and moisture in the chicken house.

At the same time, in order to ensure the temperature and humidity required for each age of the chicken house and avoid excessive heat discharge through ventilation and increase in coal burning, it is best to use the minimum ventilation volume in autumn and winter, especially after the 28th day of age, when the chickens have plump feathers and their own It has the ability to regulate body temperature and a certain degree of cold resistance. As long as the temperature is stable and moderate and cannot fluctuate high or low, the chickens will be very comfortable. Sometimes ventilation is more important than heat preservation, especially when the boiler power is insufficient. It is better to sacrifice some temperatures and adopt the lower temperature limit. Ventilation must also ensure the normal oxygen supply in the chicken house. The shed must not be stuffy due to insulation. Even if the chicken house needs to be kept warm and there is no need to discharge the heat in the house, a certain minimum ventilation volume must be maintained to ensure that the chicken house The air quality inside can meet the healthy growth of chickens.
