Modern pig farms not only need a lot of drinking water, but also need a lot of clean water in each production process, which needs to be completed by water supply and drinking water equipment. Therefore, water supply and drinking water equipment is an indispensable equipment for pig farms.
Pig farm water supply equipment includes water extraction, storage, regulation, transportation and distribution, that is, water well extraction, water tower storage and transportation pipelines, etc. Water supply can be divided into artesian water supply and pressure water supply. The water supply of modern pig farms is generally pressure water supply, and its water supply system mainly includes water supply pipelines, filters, pressure reducing valves, automatic drinking nipples, etc.
(2) Automatic drinking nipples
Pigs must be able to drink adequate quantities of clean water at all times. A growing pig needs 8-12L of drinking water a day and night, 14-18L for pregnant sows, and 18-22L forlactating sows; the daily water requirement per kilogram of body weight for one-week-old piglets is about 180-240g, and the water requirement for four-week-old piglets per kilogram of body weight is 190~255g.
There are many types of automatic drinking nipples for pigs, including duckbill type, nipple type, cup type, etc. (Figure 9-6), and the duckbill type automatic drinking nipple is the most widely used.
1. Duckbill automatic drinking nipple
The duckbill pig automatic drinking nipple is mainly composed of a valve body, a valve core, a sealing ring, a return spring, a plug cover, and a filter screen. Wherein the valve body and valve core are made of brass and stainless steel, the spring and filter screen are made of stainless steel, and the plug is made of engineering plastics. The overall structure is simple, corrosion-resistant, reliable in operation, water-tight, and long in life. When pigs drink water, the drinking nipple is contained in the mouth, and the valve stem is pressed down, and the water flows out from the gap between the valve core and the sealing ring, and enters the pig's mouth. After loosening, relying on the tension of the return spring, the valve stem resets, the water outlet gap is closed, and the water stops flowing out. The duckbill drinking nipple has good sealing performance, and the pressure decreases when the water flows out, and the flow rate is low, which meets the drinking water requirements for pigs.
Duckbill pig automatic drinking nipples generally have two specifications, small ones such as 9SZY2.5 (flow rate 2-3L/min), large ones such as 9SZY 3 (flow rate 3-4L/min), suckling pigs and nursery piglets Use small ones, medium pigs and large pigs. There are two angles for installing this drinking nipple: horizontal and 45°, and the height from the ground varies with the weight of the pig.
Drinkers should be installed in the manure area away from the pig resting area. Regularly check the working status of the water dispenser, remove the dirt, adjust and tighten the screws, and replace parts in time if any fault is found.
2. Nipple-type automatic drinking nipple
The biggest feature of the nipple-type pig automatic drinking nipple is its simple structure, which consists of three parts: the shell, the ejector rod and the steel ball. When pigs drink water, jack up the ejector rod, and the water flows out from the gap between the steel ball, ejector rod and the shell to the pig's mouth; after the pig loosens its mouth, relying on the water pressure and the gravity of the steel ball and ejector rod, the steel ball, ejector rod When it falls, it will be in close contact with the shell, and the water will stop flowing out. This kind of drinking nipple has a strong ability to pass through impurities such as sediment, but it has poor sealing performance and must be used under reduced pressure. Otherwise, the flowing water is too fast, not only it is difficult for pigs to drink water, but also the flowing water splashes, wastes water, and wets the pigsty.
When installing a drinking nipple, it should generally be at an angle of 45°-75° to the ground. The height from the ground is 25-30cm for piglets, 50-60cm for growing pigs (3-6 months old), and 75-85cm for adult pigs. .
3. Automatic cup water dispenser
It is a single-body automatic drinking nipple with a water container (water cup) as the main body. Common types include float type, spring valve type, and hydraulic valve stem type.
Float type drinking nipples are mostly double-cup type, and the float chamber and control mechanism are placed between the two water cups. Usually, a double-cup float type drinking nipple is fixedly installed on the barrier wall between the two pigpens, and is shared by the two pigs. The float type drinking nipple is composed of a shell, a float valve mechanism,a float chamber cover, and a connecting pipe. When the pigs drink water, push the float to make the valve core deflect, and the water flows into the cup for the pigs to drink; when the pig's mouth leaves, the valve stem resets by the elastic force of the return spring to stop the water supply. The float has the function of limiting the water level. It rises with the rise of the water level. When the water rises to a certain height, the pig’s mouth cannot touch the float. After the valve is reset, the water supply is stopped to avoid excessive water flow out.
Spring valve type drinking nipples, the water cup shell is generally a casting or a cup type stamped from a steel plate. The pin on the cup is connected with a water cup cover. When pigs drink water, push the pressure plate with their mouth to open the spring valve, and water will flow into the drinking cup. When the mouth leaves the pressure plate, the valve stem returns to stop water supply.
Water pressure valve stem drinking nipple, a cup drinking nipple that controls the water outlet by the weight of the water valve and the action of water pressure. When the pig drinks water, press the pressure plate with its mouth to make the valve stem deflect, and the water flows along the distance between the valve stem and the valve seat. The gap flows into the drinking water cup. After drinking water, the valve plate will naturally droop, and the valve stem will return to the normal state.
